"All our exchanges were very successful and the people were very helpful and understanding. We found places we had not seen before and visited some we had not been to for many years."
Background
The Christian House Exchange Fellowship (CHEF for short) was founded in 1976 in England by the Rev. Graham Pickhaver for church members to exchange their homes with each other for holiday use. A few years latter, in 1980, he handed over 'CHEF' to Peter Worsley. Peter expanded CHEF from a handful of membership into a large membership, both within and outside the UK. Hundred's of people have been able to have a very enjoyable and cheap holiday, sometimes two or three times in a year and sometimes in foreign locations. Without Peter's time and effort they would not have been able to do so.
After 27 years of dedication to 'CHEF', Peter Worsley retired in March 2007. CHEF is now administered by Harshal Carey.
CHEF has large numbers of UK members, currently over 300, looking for a holiday. Your chances of finding a suitable exchange are good, enhanced if you join earlier in the season which runs from October to the end of the following summer. This is by no means essential, however, and sometimes a late bargain can be arranged.
CHEF is a strictly private, non-profit making Christian organisation and the general public cannot browse its address lists.
Please note that we abide by traditional Christian moral and family values with a belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. We hope members will exchange details of local places of worship.
